Höroldt Chinoiseries - Fantastic Journey to the Middle Kingdom
Through the gilded frame of the service piece, you look on paradisiacally lighthearted Chinese scenes, rich in imaginative details and delicate allusions. In the 1720s, Johann Gregorius Höroldt developed sketches with chinoiserie motifs which were then painted on the porcelain with endless variations by his pupils. For exclusive commissions from August the Strong, who like most of the princes of the time had fallen victim to the chinoiserie craze, Höroldt himself took the brush. In the manner of the master, the top painters at Meissen to this day open the window to the colourful world of chinoiseries for you. Let MEISSEN® take you on a fantastic journey to the Middle Kingdom.
