Johann Joachim Kaendler, MEISSEN's first model master and a legend of his craft, created his famous "Monkey Band" consisting of 21 monkey musicians in 1753. For the 310th anniversary of the manufactory, modeler Silke Ebermann created a new edition of the hand-painted figurines, which make adorable collectible figures. Kaendler's intention was to jokingly hold a mirror up to courtly society, which he achieved with his figurines, monkeys dressed in human clothing. To this day, the monkeys are handcrafted with great detail as well as hand-painted. Like each of the 21 collectible figurines, the "Singer" embodies centuries of experience in arts and crafts and is a reminder of the unique artistry of the great Kaendler.
