The "Clarinetist" belongs to the famous "Monkey Chapel", a collection of hand-painted collectible figures by the great Johann Joachim Kaendler. With the intention of jokingly holding up a mirror to courtly society, the monkey, very popular as a motif at the time, was also his motif of choice for his handicraft. The "Clarinettist" with his white wig and elegant coat is handmade and hand-painted, just like every figure of the 21 collectible figurines. Thus, each monkey of the "Monkey Chapel" becomes a unique specimen and reminds of the centuries of experience in the highest-class arts and crafts, as well as the unique skills of the first model master of the manufactory MEISSEN, which are recognizable in each figure.
